●Here is Japan ! ☆Seikei University/library☆

まるでアミューズメント施設のアトラクションのように見えるが、ここはれっきとした大学の図書館だ。



同学園OBで、ニューポンピドーセンターの設計コンペで1位を獲得した坂茂さん（坂茂建築設計）と三菱地所設計が共同で担当した。



■浮かんでいる球体は何なわけ？



施設中央に浮かぶ玉の正体は「プラネット」と呼ばれる予約制のミーティングスペース。図書を頻繁に利用するが、同時に議論も不可欠なゼミやグループ活動用に作られたもの。いわば「喋れる図書館」の象徴というわけだ。



成蹊大学は図書館に玉を浮かせることで「静かに本を借りるだけの場所」から「本を媒介に議論を深める場所」に変えた。

■本を探すシステムも未来型設計



地下の閉架書架には「BOOK ROBO 」とよばれる、コンピューター制御された自動運搬システムが導入され、検索した資料を自動的に取り出すことができる。収蔵可能数は72万冊。

■一人でじっくり本を読みたい人には



「クリスタルキャレル」と呼ばれるガラス張りの勉学用個室が266席用意されており、そこは、欅並木や前庭を眺めながら一人静かに勉学する場として最適です。
